Day three brought the first completed singles main-draw matches, a Portuguese highlight through Francisca Jorge, and the first doubles teams into the later rounds.
The 2026 Seixal Ladies Open moved fully into main-draw mode on Tuesday, as the first completed singles matches and doubles ties began to shape the week in Corroios-Seixal.
Conditions stayed bright and demanding throughout the day. By late afternoon, local readings in Corroios were still around 31°C under clear skies, matching the heat-stressed feel that has defined the opening stretch of the tournament.
Early singles winners set the tone
Anastasia Kulikova carried her strong form from qualifying into the main draw with a 6-1, 6-4 win over top seed Ella Seidel. Rina Saigo also advanced in straight sets, defeating Elyse Tse 6-1, 7-5, while Veronika Podrez came through a competitive match against Manon Leonard 7-5, 6-4.
There was also a strong Portuguese note to the day as Francisca Jorge defeated Hiromi Abe 6-3, 6-1 to move into the next round. Elsewhere, Cagla Buyukakcay, Nao Hibino and Xinyu Gao all secured convincing wins to push the main draw forward.
Doubles picture starts to form
The doubles event also moved into focus. Vaishnavi Adkar and Angelina Voloshchuk booked a place in the semifinals with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Deniz Dilek and Chloe Noel, while Ella Simmons and Amy Stevens came through a match tie-break to beat fourth seeds Han Shi and Sonja Zhiyenbayeva 6-4, 5-7, [10-8].
Miroslava Medvedeva and Amanda Montes Khaghani also advanced after recovering from a set down to defeat Maria Garcia and Milana Ivantsiv 2-6, 6-2, [10-7].
Wednesday programme already in place
Play resumes on Wednesday 8 July from 09:30 across all three courts, with the remaining first-round singles matches, fresh round-two pathways and more doubles quarterfinal action all scheduled into another full day at CRDBR.
Among the names due on court are Susan Bandecchi, Gabriela Knutson, Hanne Vandewinkel, Kyoka Okamura and a home interest led by Matilde Jorge and Gabriela Agra Amorim.
